Tired of Windoze hassles?

Fed up with Microslops way or the highway?

Linux is no longer the 'geek only' OS you heard about decades ago. It is much safer and private than those other OS's to boot. It's user friendly and easy to install along side (Dual-Boot) your current OS or just replace it entirely.

And you get to chose the 'flavor' that fits your style, your hardware (older PC's/Laptops as well as the new), and of course Linux is totally free including all upgrades and updates, with gazillions of free apps you can add.

I am offering an "Introductory" course in an informal environment here in San Carlos. The main requirement is that you would need to bring your laptop or small desktop PC/Monitor to work with. It needs to be able to boot on a USB Flashdrive. Absolutely none of your current OS will be changed in any way!

It is a hands on course, which is the best way to learn rather than simply taking notes or watching someone else do it. It will consist of 3 2-3 hour sessions of no more than 6 people.

The dates and times are not set yet; I have no clue how many venturesome folks are out there looking for a better highway to travel on than what MS is dishing out.[mad]

Hola to All,

Lot of questions have come at me re "Why Linux?" MS has done a great job in convincing the world that Linux is for techies. Unfortunately there is no billions per year marketing department at 'Linux' to counter them, so Linux has simply let its actions speak for how really good it is.

One thing people have heard but really don't seem to grasp is the how/why Linux has absolutely no need for any anti-virus, anti-malware software. It is hard to grasp after spending decades with Windoze chasing the latest anti-virus software, getting the latest updates, MS patching patches with patches, etc.

I just ran across this Youtube video "The Fundamental Differences between Windows and Linux". It is a 40 minute video that has no fancy graphics; just a straight forward text presentation with voice-over going over why, among other topics, Linux has no anti-virus need.

I highly recommend this video if you are curious about Linux and much of the hoopla made of it by us users. The first 30 minutes are very informative for beginners; the last 10 minutes is more for the "I wanna dig a lot deeper" types that may enjoy using that black DOS-like window with the blinking cursor...A real snore (and rarely necessary to use!) for most that are totally unfamiliar with Linux!

Anyway, here is the link:
