Club Deportivo, Thursday night, 7 pm, the bar will be open.  The 100 pesos suggested donation is always your option.

This meeting was supposed to be about Crime Prevention. So over 100 people in attendance  were amazed to witness the Comisario and the Comandante of Police explaining how they got a man convicted and send to prison  last year for a year by planting a knife on the guy so he would be convicted of assaulting the police.

A recap of last night's report on crime from our Comisario::
1)  San Carlos is given very little funding from Guaymas for the police force, maintenance of roads, etc. Our comisario is direly trying to solve problems here in San Carlos without the support he needs from Guaymas
2) Neighborhood Watch groups, therefore, have been established to help keep an eye on our properties and our personal safety.  There are now 26 Neighborhood Watch groups.
3) If you are in a group, please make sure that you are registered with the Comisario and do have the WhatsAp number for communication.  This communication should be limited only to neighborhood emergencies, not complains, gossip, etc.
4) If your neighborhood does not have a Watch group established, please go to the Comisario's office to see about establishing one.
5) If you are not sure about your neighborhood --- go to the Comisario's office to check it out.
6) If you do have a break-in, robbery, attempted robbery, anything of the sort -- do make a complaint at the Comisario's office.  Without such incidents being listed and charges being pressed, he has very little to persuade Guaymas to give us more police protection.
7) Donations collected last night have gone to the San Carlos Foundation, earmarked for Neighborhood Watch signs, or other methods of crime prevention (perhaps car stickers for residents of the neighborhood - so those people will be recognized as neighbors).
8) Neither my husband nor I can recall the "planting a knife on a suspect" -- but maybe we missed it.  There was a lot of discussion about security and safety -- but maybe we did not hear this??
9) Unfortunately, our city here is not unlike many others in our world today - no matter what country you are in, so extra vigilance is necessary.
10) Meg from Cyberco gave us many helpful tips on what we can do ourselves to be safer and insure our security.
11) No longer will people be able to knock on doors in our neighborhoods begging for money, use of bathrooms, food, etc.  UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD WE ALLOW STRANGERS INTO OUR HOMES.  This would definitely be something to report on WhatsAp
12) For good security, a good alarm system and a dog may be your best bets.
13) We thank all who attended the meeting last night.  With each of us trying to watch out for problems in our neighborhoods, we can hope to make our town a safer place.[smile]
